Dolores Street is one of my favorite streets in San Francisco. I think I've painted it at least 30 times. To be technical, it's actually a boulevard that climbs up steep hills with long views. Palm trees are its hallmark, running down its median. Here, looking south, a low sun sweeps across Dolores Street in late afternoon. I came out years ago to San Francisco for a brief visit and was struck by the brilliant light, the turbulent landscape, and streets like Dolores with their panoramic views. The palm trees are not native to northern California but can be found in selected streets in the City, where they add an exotic touch.
