A crisp morning light sunbathes this broad intersection in San Francisco. Here Market Street, San Francisco's largest street, is crossed by Castro, which begins its climb upward to a magnificent overlook. This is one of my favorite intersections because of the open, broad expanse that can be viewed from 4 different hills! The brilliant light and panoramas from these steep hills was a new experience for me when I first came to the city years ago and can still take my breath away. I rendered this scene in pastel, focusing on the golden tonalities that were present that summer morning.
